Frita Batidos | Ann Arbor

July 22, 2014

I have planned numerous times to dine at Frita Batidos but for some reason mother nature always intervened – polar vortex & thunderstorms – but finally I was able to make it to Frita Batidos in Ann Arbor with my girlfriends. I was a bit giddy because I’ve heard people rave about the food at Frita and since I’m a major foodie I had to try it for myself! We ordered the Black Bean Fritas, Big Bright Salad, and The Best Snack Ever and the Cocunut Cream Batidos. Honestly I can rave all I want about it but you won’t believe me until you try it for yourself. The food was AMAZING!!

Midsummer Canary

July 21, 2014

Shirt: The Limited (old) | Skirt: Anthropologie | Scarf: Zeena | Bag: Kate Spade (similar) |
Shoes: Banana Republic | Sunnies: Ray-Ban | Necklace: Gift | Bracelet: Ily Couture

I’ve had this skirt from Anthro for about a year. Why haven’t I worn it? I couldn’t find a scarf to go with it! I’ve been searching for months to find the perfect scarf to pull this outfit together. When I received  the beautiful Zeena Palisade Scarf {courtesy of Fan Giveaway Week} I knew instantly this would be the perfect scarf to go with this skirt.
p.s. Big shout out to the Husain family in Chi city for naming this blog post! Love you all!

Fereni [Rice Cream] Recipe

July 15, 2014

Today I want to share one of my all time favorite Ramadan dishes – “Ferni” also known as Rice Cream. My mom has been making Ferni every Ramadan since I was little kid. It is by far my favorite dish and have been wanting to learn how to make it for the longest time. I’m sharing this super simple recipe with all of you so that you can enjoy this delicious dish during Ramadan:

Ingredients:

1/4 cup Rice Flour
1/2 cup Sugar
2 cups Milk [Whole or 2%]
1 tablespoon Rose Water
1 pinch Ground Cardamom

Instructions:

1. Combine milk, rice flour, and sugar in a non-stick saucepan.
2. Whisk ingredients together, then turn the heat on medium and keep stirring until the mixture thickens.
3. Constantly stir the mixture in order to prevent it from sticking to the bottom of the pan and burning.
4. Just when it starts to bubble (after about 10 minutes) add a pinch of ground cardamom and rose water.
5. Once the mixture thickens pour into small serving dishes or one large dish.
6. Garnish with saffron, pistachios, or nothing at all. Let cool and enjoy!

Just a little red, white, & blue fashion inspiration for you today! I always get super excited for Fourth of July mostly because it is in close proximity to my birthday and I’m a sucker for fireworks. I go all out for the festivities – including fashion wise. I’ve been waiting for an excuse to wear this adorable Corilynn skirt that has been hiding in my closet for almost a year! I absolutely love this skirt! Chevron, polka dots, red, sparkly jewelry, and Ray-Bans are the perfect ingredients for a festive Fourth of July outfit!

Summer Beauty Routine

July 2, 2014

In the summer months I tend to change my beauty routine to a simple more fresh look. Since it is hot and humid where I live I don’t like having too much stuff on my face and feeling icky. Therefore I stick to these 8 products that I can’t live without in the summer:

1. Revlon Liquid Eyeliner [Black Brown]: This is hands down my favorite liquid liner. I have tried them all but always come back to this revlon one. I love the tip and precision the liner gives me.

2. Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil [Hustle]: I use a pencil to line my lower lashes. Hustle is the color I use mainly but every once in a while I will switch it up with a color liner from the Urban Decary Ocho Loco liner set. Generally I coordinate my lower lash pencil with the outfit I’m wearing that day.

3. theBalm Cosmetics Mary-Lou Manizer: Ever since I received this in my Birchbox a few years ago I have been hooked. I use a small dab of this powder to highlight my brow bone.

4. Benefit Cosmetics They’re Real! Mascara: This mascara makes my eyes POP! I absolutely love how it enhances my lashes and make it look as if I have false lashes on. Let’s be real though ain’t no one got time for false lashes at 8am before work.

5. Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer [Bisque]: Tinted moisturizer is my BFF. I only wear foundation on special occasions – such as weddings – majority of the time I’m wearing tinted moisturizer. I do not like the feel of foundation and truly believe it ruins my skin. Therefore 90% of the time I dab on the Laura Mercier tinted moisturizer. A little goes a long way with this moisturizer so don’t go overboard.

6. Nars Blush [Orgasm]: This blush is perfect for summer. It is complimentary on any person’s skin tone!

7. Chella Highlighter Pencil: I use this pencil to highlight under my eyes and anywhere on my face that needs some brightening.

8. Sara Happ The Lip Slip: During the summer I generally stick to gloss. This Sara Happ lip gloss is my favorite because it moisturizes my lips and gives me a hint of shine!

What is your summer beauty routine?? Any product you can’t live without? Do share!

Olive Dress

June 27, 2014

Dress: H&M | Cardigan: Zeena | Scarf: Guggenheim Store | Clutch: Steve Madden |
Shoes: Isola via Nordstrom Rack | Watch: Michael Kors | Necklace: Gifted | Ring: BCBG

It’s no secret that green is my favorite color. Therefore when I saw this olive color dress on sale at H&M for only $15 I had to buy it because this dress has endless possibilities! It is beyond comfortable and I’m definitely going to be wearing it throughout the summer. For this look I paired the dress with my all time favorite scarf from the Guggenheim Store I bought during my trip to NYC. This scarf features the work of Jackson Pollock – one of my favorite artists – and well it’s green. This outfit was great for a night out on the town with my friends during Ann Arbor Restaurant Week.
