On Instagram I asked if anyone was interested in product recommendations and an overwhelming majority said yes! I have put together a list of items that I am personally shopping from the list and a breakdown of the best skincare and makeup items to shop from the sale!
Let me start by saying – by no means should you feel pressured to shop the sale. If you don’t have the means or the budget to purchase items then please close your browser and walk away. I am only sharing items because many people asked for my recommendations, I wasn’t planning on doing a post since we are all in difficult times. However if you are able to shop and pick up a few items then it is a great opportunity to save a few dollars and shop the sale!
I shamefully admit that I am rouge status for a few years now. I purchase 95% of my beauty and skincare items from Sephora and the other 5% from Nordstrom. It does pays off to be loyal to one store for all your purchases. Additionally my mom and sister use my account as well, therefore we rack up the points very quickly!
SKINCARE
I recently shared my updated skincare routine, here. All the products I use for my AM and PM routine are listed and linked!
I was looking forward to ordering and trying the Peter Thomas Roth Rose Cell Bio-Repair Gel Mask and The Ordinary AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution since the skincare goddess Kathleen Jennings raves about them however both the items are out of stock…boo! If they happen to be back in stock before the end of the sale I will definitely be placing an order.
On Instagram I asked what product recommendations everyone was interested in me sharing, I got a lot of messages asking for moisturizers. I personally have oily skin in the spring/summer and dry skin during the winter/fall. Therefore I use an oil-free moisturizer during the warmer months and a hydrating moisturizer during the dryer months. I swear by the First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Cream. It has saved my skin on numerous occasions. I shared this story many years ago on how I was introduced to the product – after my trip to Costa Rica, I got really bad sunburn and my face was peeling like a snake. I tried everything for a week and it was just awful, my forehead was different color than my nose and I was shedding, it was a mess. I was in college at the time and I was so embarrassed to go to class that I would wear full coverage foundation, which made my skin even worse! I ran into Sephora and bless the girl that was working there, she recommended the Ultra Repair Cream, I was so desperate that didn’t even bother with a sample I bought the full size version. Within a week my face was hydrated and getting back to normal. I went back to the store and thanked her profusely for saving my face!
I am huge fan of Summer Fridays products, see my previous post here. I highly recommend the Jet Lag Mask and the CC Me Vitamin C Serum. If you have ever been curious to try out the Jet Lag Mask I recommend ordering the mini and testing it out.
SPF – I was careless when it came to SPF in my early 20s. But now I am very strict about applying SPF year round! Even while working from home I apply SPF, that is how devoted I am to the cause. On days that I am going make-up free I will apply Drunk Elephant Umbra Sunscreen. For days when I’m applying makeup I use the Supergoop! Unseen Sunscreen because I love that it is clear and doesn’t make me oily.
MAKEUP
I recently have been on a clean beauty kick with my make-up. I really love the brand KOSAS, see my post here and here. My favorite products from the line is the Rosewater Lipstick and the 10-Second Liquid Eyeshadow.
I always stock up on my everyday makeup items during the Sephora sale. These items include Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer (I’m shade Bisque), Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz (shade ebony) and Clear Brow Gel, Bobbi Brown Under eye corrector (I’m shade Bisque), and KVD Tattoo Eyeliner (in Mad Max Brown and Trooper). I have been using these products for years and I’m deathly loyal to them. Therefore I take advantage of the sale and stock up so that I always have a back-up on hand when I run out of the item.
I recently switched to Fenty Beauty Bronzer in shade Inda Sun and I AM OBSESSED. Honestly the hype is real and I highly recommend it if you are in the market for a new bronzer.
I have been on the hunt for new mascara for a while. Ever since I had my corrective eye surgery I have not been able to wear my previous mascara, my eyes get super watery and burn. I have heard a lot about ILIA Limitless Lash Mascara which is a clean product. I am excited to try the product out!
I will also be adding a few colors of the Laura Mercier Caviar Stick Eye Shadow to my makeup up bag. I currently have the shade Blossom and Metallic Taupe. I absolutely love this item because you can use it as eyeliner or eye shadow and it is super easy to apply and blend. I wear the blossom color to work as an eyeshadow. It brightens up my eyes in the morning and I can easily just apply the color and blend with my fingers. I am looking to get the shade Cocoa, Plum, and Caramel.
TOOLS
I finally caved and ordered the NuFACE Mini Facial Toning Device. I have been eyeing the item since January and I’ve done a lot of research on the device. This is another product that is highly recommended by skincare goddess Kathleen Jennings and I have gone down a rabbit hole watching videos and reading reviews on the device. I am really excited about trying the NuFACE Mini and I can’t wait to share the results!
Another device that I highly recommend is a Clarisonic cleansing device. I have been using one since 2013 and I swear by it. I truly believe my skin exponentially got better once I started using a Clarisonic. I rarely break out and I am comfortable going make-up free on many days because I’m comfortable with the way my skin looks. I always advice people that start using a Clarisonic for the first time, there is a purging period for the first 2-3 weeks. You will break out before your skin clears up and that is totally normal! Your skin is going into overdrive and once all the blackheads and whiteheads come to the surface they will go away and your skin will shine!
FRAGRENCES
I absolutely love Jo Malone fragrances, see my post here. The fragrances are absolutely amazing and I always get compliment on my perfume when I wear it. My personal favorite is the Peony & Blush Suede Cologne.
I am also looking at the Gucci Bloom perfume after trying a sample of it. It’s a lovely floral jasmine scent perfume. It’s in my cart and I’m debating if I really need it or just want it because of the pretty pink bottle!
I listed a few of my favorite perfumes I’ve had in the past below.
What items are you shopping during the sale?
If anyone was wondering what to buy, you got it all covered! And I’d buy the Gucci 😜
Thanks girl! I get so excited for the sale since it only happens twice a year!
