Sharing my current Morning Skincare Routine!
My morning skincare routine is pretty simple. I get to work around 6am, when I have patients scheduled, therefore I need an easy and quick routine to start my day. The steps that I go through have always remained the same, however the products get switched up depending on the season. Generally in the winter my skin is more dry and in the summer it’s more oily. When my skin is dry I generally skip using the clarisonic in the AM and opt for a hydrating daily moisturizer. When my skin is oily I make sure to use my Clarisonic in the AM and PM as well as switch to an oil-free moisturizer. It’s all about knowing your skin and giving it what it needs!
Now let’s get into my current morning skincare routine:
Step 1: Cleanse // The first step is to clean my face, from the products I applied the night before. I swear by philosophy purity cleanser and have been using it for years. I use the cleanser with my clarisonic device to really get all the dirt and gunk out of my skin. I truly believe since I started using a clarisonic, in 2013, it has dramatically improved my skin.
Step 2: Toner // I spritz a bit of toner onto a cotton pad and wipe my face down. The toner should be used after cleansing and before applying any serums. The most important thing about a toner is to make sure it doesn’t have any alcohol in it as that will dry your skin out. I personally love using rose based toners as they are hydrating and smell amazing.
Step 3: Vitamin C // I use a Vitamin C serum on a daily basis. The importance of Vitamin C is to help with collagen production and maintenance as well as soften existing fine lines and wrinkles. I’m currently loving this serum by Drunk Elephant. It is a bit pricey however I find it to be extremely effective! In the past I have used OLEHENRIKSEN Truth Serum and absolutely love it and find it to be extremely hydrating.
Step 4: Moisturize // After about a minute of letting the Vitamin C serum absorb into my skin, I apply my moisturizer. I currently love the Umbrian Clay Oil-Free Lotion by Fresh for when my skin is oily. It is extremely lightweight and doesn’t cause me to oil up in my t-zones. During times that my skin is dry and needs extra hydration I tend to use the Ultra Repair Cream or Lotus Youth Preserve Radiance Lotion.
Step 5: SPF // I did a whole post dedicated to SPF Skin Care and the importance of incorporating it into your daily skincare routine, year round. On days that I am applying make up I will use Glossier Invisible Shield as my SPF since my tinted moisturizer also has SPF in it. On days that I am going make up free I will use the Drunk Elephant Umbra Sunscreen.
Step 6: Lip Balm // The last step in my morning routine is to apply lip balm to hydrate my lips before applying lipstick. I’m currently loving balm dotcom by Glossier. I went with the original, no tint and love how hydrating the formula is!
My morning routine takes about 5-7 minutes to get through, super easy!
