I constantly get asked about how I style my hijab and today I’m sharing all my tricks!
When it comes to styling my hijab I personally prefer a clean and classic style. I don’t like lots of volume or messiness. I gravitate toward a polished and professional style because it works for my 9-5 life and off duty. I am very particular about getting the perfect arch with my hijab and constantly get asked how I manage to do that. There are a few items and tricks that work for me and today I’m sharing my hijab style!
Under-Scarf & Pins || I always wear a headband under my hijab to prevent it from slipping. Additionally it prevents my hair from sneaking out and keeps everything in place. I don’t like any of the traditional hijab under-scarves that cover my ears therefore I use a thick cotton headband. You can purchase these headbands from Target, Amazon, CVS, or Ulta. I almost always wear black – since I have black hair and it blends in – however sometimes with lighter color hijabs I swap for the white headband. Additionally I use a small safety pin under my chin to style the scarf and use additional straight pins for styling.
Hijab Arc Insert || This is the secret to my perfect scarf arch. I picked up these hijab inserts from my local hijab store in Dearborn, MI. I have searched the web endlessly for these however they don’t really exist online! The closest item I found is this plastic insert. I have both the plastic and felt version of the arc insert. I use the felt with chiffon hijabs as they don’t move and stay in place. I use the plastic insert for jersey and viscose scarf as the fabric is a bit thicker and the plastic arc is easier to style with these fabrics.
Hijab Material || My go to hijab fabric is chiffon from Haute Hijab. It’s my absolute favorite since it doesn’t wrinkle, breathable fabric, and you can style it numerous ways. During the summer I’m always wearing viscose hijabs since it’s the perfect fabric for those hot summer days. My favorite on the go hijab fabric is jersey! I always travel in a jersey scarf since it doesn’t require any pins and is super comfortable to wear during long flights. All of my hijabs are from Haute Hijab, I swear by the brand because their quality is like no other! Check out my recent post on how I organize all of my scarves.
