Texas | Houston

October 28, 2014

This past weekend I traveled to Houston with my sister and friends for a wedding. It was short weekend trip however we managed to schedule in some great dining experiences! The first night we had dinner at Kasra Persian Grill. Are you surprised? Persian people always go to Persian restaurants when its an option. The food was delicious!

The next morning we had brunch at MKT Bar which is located in Phoenicia Specialty Foods. I legit found this place on Instagram when searching for Halal food in Houston. I have a knack for finding things on Instagram and forcing people to follow me on my adventures. Thankfully this place was legit and the food was delicious! If I lived in Houston I would only eat at MKT Bar. The food was on point! Even the coffee was delicious. We ordered the Knefe Jbneh, Black Pepper Waffle, Hill Country Fried Chicken & Waffles, and Fresh Fruit Waffles. Basically – food coma!

The second day we had brunch at Batanga – thanks to May for the awesome pick! It was a tapas style restaurant which had a delicious brunch menu. We ordered a bunch of things which included Patatas Batanga, Chickpea Puree, Marinated Beet Salad, Chilaquilles, and Vanilla Pancakes. The Vanilla Pancakes were delectable. They just melted in your mouth! The caramelized bananas were to die for.

After brunch we went on a bit of a adventure to find Adickes Sculpturworx Studio in order to see the 35-foot tall statues of The Beatles. From my Internet research there should have been dozens of presidential busts as well – however sadly there was only two headless busts. Therefore we decided it was a great idea to climb the busts and be statues for all of 2 minutes. I thought it was great – my sister was not amused. We called it a day and got some froyo after!

Houston was short – mostly because our priority was the wedding and didn’t plan for sightseeing. However we managed to hit up some delicious food joints and go on a small presidential adventure.
Till next time Texas!

DC Fashion Week | Haute & Modesty Show

September 29, 2014

Top: The Limited | Skirt: Anthropologie | Scarf: Zeena | Necklace: BaubleBar | Bag: Kate Spade | Shoes: Diane Von Furstenberg | Bracelets: BCBG | Lips: MAC Hot Tahiti

Last week was DC Fashion Week! On Friday I attended DC Fashion Week Haute and Modesty Show event with my dear friend Ambereen. The show included the collection of Indonesian fashion designer Dian Pelangi. I am legit in love with Dian Pelangi and her entire collection. Her collection reminds me of Alexander McQueen but with an ethnic twist. She is also the sweetest person! So humble and down to earth!
Another designer I totally loved is Eman of Eman Apparel. She is Canadian designer and has the loveliest chic dresses. In addition I got to meet the super stylish Hakeemah Cummings of CMB.
A big thanks to Executive Director of DCFW Ean Williams for bringing modesty to the runway and shinning a light on modest fashion and showing that being modest is fashionable!

#TBT | SoCal

September 25, 2014

This weeks #ThrowBackThursday is over to the West Coast – Southern California. We have a ton of family and always make it out to SoCal ever so often. The best part is seeing our family and spending lots of time with them – which leaves little room for sightseeing. Sometimes we manage to convince everyone for an outing and those are always fun! Last time I was in the Los Angeles area I managed to accomplish two things – 1) Sprinkles Cupcakes and 2) The Huntington!

NYC | Day 3

September 24, 2014

My obsession with Ladurée is not a secret. Therefore when I found out they opened up a Ladurée cafe in SoHo – it was on my priority list of places to go in NYC. We went to  Ladurée for breakfast on Sunday. There is no camera photography allowed inside – only phones – therefore all these pictures are courtesy of my iPhone (not DSLR quality pics obviously!). The decor of the place was impeccable. I legit felt I was taken to Versailles and was dining in France. I had a cappuccino, chocolate croissant, french toast, and a macaron. It was all delicious!

NYC | Day 2

September 23, 2014

I have been counting down the days to go to Café Nadery in NYC. A little history – there is a Café Nadery in Tehran (these two are not related) – however the NYC location is inspired by it. I’ve been to the one in Tehran therefore I was so excited to visit this little gem and have a classic Café Glace.

After breakfast and some walking we headed over to Pop-Bar in West Village. I legit found this place when it popped up on my Instagram feed via Birchbox’s profile. I love anything Ice-cream or gelato or sorbet related. I actually had the Blood Orange and Dulce de Leche flavors when I was at Pop-Bar. If my sister didn’t stop me I would have gone for a third one. I will legit start a campaign to have a Pop-Bar in Washington DC because this place is AMAZING.

For the afternoon we headed to the Highline. We started at the Gansevoort St entrance at walked the entire High Line. Thankfully we got the chance to visit the new addition The Rail Yards – which is stunning. It was such a lovely walk and I just love the High Line. Definitely an NYC must.

For dinner we went to Agora on the Upper East Side. Let me just say – Best Turkish Food outside of Turkey. Legit everything was delicious! Everyone must go! Oh and it’s Halal! Boom.
After dinner we strolled by the MET and walked by Central Park – not inside – because apparently you shouldn’t do that at night?! Clearly safety isn’t my number one priority!

Dress: Altuzarra for Target | Belt: Anthropologie | Boots: Sam Edelman | Bag: Kate Spade |
Scarf: Vela | Watch: Michael Kors | Bracelet: Macy’s | Rings: BCBG

Also can we have a moment to talk about this amazing dress by Altuzarra for Target? Legit I was eyeing this dress for months when I saw the preview of the collection. This dress is so comfortable and beautiful! Let me just say – It has pockets! I will be wearing this constantly this Fall so be prepared!

Also I have to give credit where it is due – these photos were taken by yours truly and the talented Zina Photography. I’m sure you can all distinguish which one’s belong to Zina (hint hint the really artsy ones). Happy Tuesday!

NYC | Day 1

September 22, 2014

This past weekend I went on a lovely girls trip to NYC! I haven’t been to New York for about 2 years (way overdue) and was extremely pumped about this trip. We drove from Baltimore to NYC Friday night and stayed until Sunday afternoon. My sister booked our hotel through Expedia (wohoo deal!) and we stayed at the Wyndham New Yorker Hotel. Location wise it was great!

After check in to the hotel and freshening up we hit the streets for some The Halal Guys. Honestly it is the best street cart food EVER. On a side note – while we were in line the owners of The Halal Guys was there and we chatted with him – nicest guy ever.

Obviously there was a long line – we patiently waited – grabbed out food and headed over to Rockefeller to enjoy the deliciousness that is The Halal Guys.

After dinner we headed to Momofuku Milk Bar in Midtown. My sister was on a mission to get crack pie for dessert. With our our crack pie slice we headed to Times Square – typical tourists – to sit on the bleachers and enjoy the madness. The crack pie was amazing – very sweet! Everyone had a bite and then I naturally finished the rest. So good!
