Fabulous Modesty Fashion

October 22, 2014

This is post is very special to me and features my stunning Midwest soul sister – Ambereen – also known as The Girl Behind the Lens. Ambereen is my fabulous photographer and fashion sidekick here on the East Coast. She somehow manages to be a wife, mom, AMAZING baker, working gal, and accompany me on all my fashionable adventures! Honestly she is super awesome and I am extremely blessed to have her as a friend.

During DC Fashion Week Amber & I had the opportunity to attend the Haute & Modesty Show and at the show we met the lovely Hakeemah of Cover Me Beautiful. Little did we know Hakeemah is also from the Midwest! Hence the perfect Trifecta! Hakeemah reached out to me with an idea for a collaboration to feature the clothing label Styled by Zubaidah and my girl Ambereen. Obviously I was over the moon about the collaboration because it was about time to feature The Girl Behind the Lens.
All the looks were styled by and photographed by Hakeemah.

The clothing label is called Styled by Zubaidah and she specializes in plus size (12 and bigger). She is based in NJ and started her line because she noticed a lack of modest designs that catered to the plus sized ladies. This goes to show that glamorous, chic, & fabulous modesty can be achieved at any size. You can find this lovely collection at www.styledbyzubaidah.com, and make sure to follow her on Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook all at @styledbyzubaidah.
Also make sure to follow Hakeemah on her blog, Facebook, Instagram!
Have a  fabulous day ladies!

FWC | Style Panelist

October 14, 2014

This past Saturday I had the honor of participating at Fashion With Compassion as a style panelist. My role included putting together a few looks and sharing style tips. The event location was at the beautiful Coomber Hall in Herndon, Virginia. The venue was designed and put together by Peacocks and Paisley Event Decor. Isra Chaker was the wonderful emcee of the night [check out her Facebook page here: Isra Speaks]. The event consisted of three style panelists featuring Miss Alnahdi, The Vintageista, and myself! In addition there was a runway fashion show featuring Coolibar, Modern Mary, Urban Modesty, and Kotyur.

Falling for Fall

October 13, 2014

Jacket: Banana Republic (old) | Sweater: Lord & Taylor (old) | Blouse: The Limited |
Jeans: The Limited (old) (similar) | Boots: Sam Edelman | Bag: Fossil | Necklace: BaubleBar |
Scarf: Gift | Watch: Michael Kors | Bracelet: Banana Republic

Fall is in the air in the DC area! Last week my friend Z and I started the morning off at Krispy Kreme  in Rockville – yes I know super healthy! Afterward we walked it off at Theodore Roosevelt Island. It was such a lovely stroll through the fall foliage. Fall is all about layers, boots, and rustic warm shades for me therefore I naturally pair this beautiful sweater from BR with my all time favorite Sam Edelman Penny boots. These boots are entering their second fall season and I can’t describe how amazing, practical, and comfortable they are! I pair these boots with everything from jeans to dresses! If you are in the market for fall boots I highly recommend these gems!
Happy Monday!

Ginger

October 6, 2014

Jacket: Express | Sweater: Anthropologie (old) | Skirt: Corilynn | Scarf: Haute Hijab |
Booties: Dolce Vita via Nordstrom Rack | Belt: Anthropologie (old) | Bag: Kate Spade |
Watch: Michael Kors | Bracelets: BaubleBar | Sunnies: Ray-Ban | Rings: Stella & Dot
Fall is my favorite season for many reasons – pumpkin spice everything, leaves changing colors, cider, boots, layers, and sweaters. I’m a Midwest gal and I love me a good cozy sweater any day of the week. This past weekend the weather was crisp and definitely fall-esque. It was the perfect time to bust out this pretty Ginger Corilynn skirt and paired it with my all time favorite scarf from Haute Hijab for this very Fall look.

DC Fashion Week | Haute & Modesty Show

September 29, 2014

Top: The Limited | Skirt: Anthropologie | Scarf: Zeena | Necklace: BaubleBar | Bag: Kate Spade | Shoes: Diane Von Furstenberg | Bracelets: BCBG | Lips: MAC Hot Tahiti

Last week was DC Fashion Week! On Friday I attended DC Fashion Week Haute and Modesty Show event with my dear friend Ambereen. The show included the collection of Indonesian fashion designer Dian Pelangi. I am legit in love with Dian Pelangi and her entire collection. Her collection reminds me of Alexander McQueen but with an ethnic twist. She is also the sweetest person! So humble and down to earth!
Another designer I totally loved is Eman of Eman Apparel. She is Canadian designer and has the loveliest chic dresses. In addition I got to meet the super stylish Hakeemah Cummings of CMB.
A big thanks to Executive Director of DCFW Ean Williams for bringing modesty to the runway and shinning a light on modest fashion and showing that being modest is fashionable!
