Strawberry picking is one of my favorite summer activities. After three months of quarantine it was nice to do something normal such as strawberry picking! Last week my sister and I took my nephew strawberry picking at Wegmeyer Farms and he had an absolute blast. The farm adheres to strict social distancing guidelines – which I am very grateful – because it made the experience comfortable and enjoyable.
Wegmeyer Farms currently has two location open for strawberry picking in Northern Virginia, I went to the Oatlands location. The farm releases a certain amount of reservations every evening (around 6pm) for the next day. Be sure to check their Facebook page every evening for updates on the strawberry fields and availability. The reservation tickets sell out quickly therefore I highlight recommend setting an alarm and purchasing tickets quickly. We went first thing in the morning, around 9am, since the weather was extremely hot last week. Upon arrival you check in with the staff, grab a bucket, and you are escorted to your strawberry row for picking. All the families are extremely spread a part therefore it’s not necessary to wear a face mask.
My nephew had a blast filling up his bucket with strawberries and took the job very seriously!
Afterwards we enjoyed a box of delicious fresh donuts on the ride home.

This looks so fun, what beautiful photos! I used to have a strawberry farm near me but it closed and I was so sad!
Oh no! I hope you can find one to go too, it’s such a fun summer activity.
