I just got back from a quick weekend trip to Toronto. I received so many messages on Instagram asking for a blog post of everything I did and wear we ate. Sharing a few highlights of my weekend trip to Toronto today!
My family and I have been traveling to Toronto for as long as I can remember. My mom’s sister and my dad’s brother live in Toronto. We also have a ton of extended family there as well. When I lived in Michigan, I remember numerous weekend road trips to Toronto since it was only a 4 hour drive from Ann Arbor. Now that I live in DC, it’s only a 1.5 hour non-stop flight into Toronto!
I went to Toronto this past weekend with my mom, sister, and nephew to visit our family. It’s always a blast visiting family and getting the gang together. We rarely get to do any sightseeing. However we manage to visit a lot of food spots. Toronto has a ton of Persian restaurants! I always get my fix of Persian kabob, sweets, tea, and stock pile on bread when I’m in town.
The one tourist thing we did this time in Toronto was visit The Distillery Historic District in downtown Toronto. We started the morning by grabbing coffee at Balzac’s Coffee Roasters and exploring the area. I highly recommend ordering the Parisian Mist which is basically a London Fog Latte. We walked around the Distillery area and explored all the cute shops. I was excited to find DCIEM The Abnormal Beauty Company has a store in the area and was able to stock up on all by favorite skin care items!!
My cousin’s husband recommended Shabestan Cafe & Restaurant for lunch. It’s a traditional Persian restaurant that offers Kabob and Dizi. The food is absolutely delicious and I love the traditional decor and ambiance. For lunch I ordered the Torsh Kabob which is lamb kabob marinated in pomegranate walnut sauce – delicious!!
I am obsessed with anything Pomegranate, it’s the Persian in me. I always make it a point to stop by Marouf Tochal and indulge in a pomegranate dessert. This time I ordered the Pomegranate Falodeh. It is absolutely delicious and I am dreaming of it right now as I”m typing this post!
Another amazing recommendation by my cousin’s husband was Pizza Shab for lunch. It’s a small restaurant and usually people order to go however since it was a rainy day we managed to grab a table and place an order to dine in. The pizza takes a while to get ready, therefore either call ahead or be patient! The wait is totally worth it because the pizza is delicious!! We ordered the beef lovers pizza and the rolling beef pizza.
I have so much love for Toronto, it’s basically my second home. I love visiting my favorite spots and discovering new ones!
