D.C. Nights

November 4, 2014

Top: The Limited | Jacket: Express | Jeans: Express | Scarf: Vela | Boots: Sam Edelman |
Necklace: BaubleBar | Bag: Phillip Lim for Target (old) | Watch: Michael Kors |
Bracelet: Alex & Ani | Ring: BCBG | Lips: MAC Ruby Woo & Stila Beso

It has been on my bucket list to visit Lincoln Memorial, Washington Monument, and National WWII Memorial at night time. I have heard from numerous people that visiting these monuments at night is completely different then visiting during the day. All the rumors were true! On Halloween night my bestie twin and I grabbed some tea & chai-cider from Baked & Wired and then headed on to the monuments. I must say I love the monuments at night – more than daytime! I was very excited to go to the Lincoln Memorial because I hadn’t been there in about 12 years. I constantly drive by it but never actually climbed the steps since moving to the DMV area. My bestie twin is also an amazing photographer and she snapped all these amazing images – she puts my camera skills to shame. It was such a lovely walk and I wished I lived closer so that I could go on this walk at least once a week!

p.s. Make sure to enter the Jamberry Nails Giveaway here.
Giveaway runs until Thursday November 6 11:59 p.m. ET. Winner will be announced on Monday November 10.

DC Fashion Week | Haute & Modesty Show

September 29, 2014

Top: The Limited | Skirt: Anthropologie | Scarf: Zeena | Necklace: BaubleBar | Bag: Kate Spade | Shoes: Diane Von Furstenberg | Bracelets: BCBG | Lips: MAC Hot Tahiti

Last week was DC Fashion Week! On Friday I attended DC Fashion Week Haute and Modesty Show event with my dear friend Ambereen. The show included the collection of Indonesian fashion designer Dian Pelangi. I am legit in love with Dian Pelangi and her entire collection. Her collection reminds me of Alexander McQueen but with an ethnic twist. She is also the sweetest person! So humble and down to earth!
Another designer I totally loved is Eman of Eman Apparel. She is Canadian designer and has the loveliest chic dresses. In addition I got to meet the super stylish Hakeemah Cummings of CMB.
A big thanks to Executive Director of DCFW Ean Williams for bringing modesty to the runway and shinning a light on modest fashion and showing that being modest is fashionable!

A Thousand Years of the Persian Book

September 12, 2014

You  know those days that you don’t plan and everything just happens and you end up having a ton of fun? Wednesday was one of those days for me! I ended up at the Library of Congress with a friend who was visiting DC. We were able to check out the exhibition that has been on my list since March but I never found the time to actually go to – A Thousand Years of the Persian Book. This exhibition explores the vast and rich history of Persian literature ranging from science, religion, history, and literature. The pictures are all taken with my iPhone – I could kick myself for not having my DSLR on me that day! Oh well! I had a lovely time and enjoyed it very much!
The exhibit is only going on until September 20! I highly recommend a visit to Library of Congress to check out this exhibit as well as the LOC itself – which is stunning!
