Colorful Winter Coats

It has been a great week for democracy and colorful statement coats!

It is officially coat season in Washington, D.C. and after last week’s Inauguration *cough* fashion show that took place at the Capitol, colorful and chic outerwear is on everyone’s radar. My love of winter coats stems from growing up in Michigan where winter basically lasts from November – April and I was never a fan of boring black outerwear. My coat collection is a decade in the making – see my recent reels shared on Instagram here – and over the years I have been able to score some classic coats for a great deal.

I love clothes but coats are pricey and definitely an investment piece. My favorite coats are from J.Crew – the lady coat and chateau parka are my all time favorite. Additionally Nordstrom and Nordstrom Rack are great places to score designer pieces during the winter sale. I have been able to score great deals on coats during black friday and end of season winter sales. In my experience the best time to shop for discounted coats is mid-end of February when stores are switching from winter to spring collections.
