What To Pack in Your Carry-On // International Flights

September 18, 2019

At the end of this week I’m heading on vacation for 2 weeks! For long international trips I normally check in suitcases and bring a carry on. No matter where in the world I’m traveling to, my carry on packing items are always the same. Today I’m sharing my carry on item essentials!

Personal Item/Handbag

I almost always take a tote on the plane in addition to my carry on. Recently I bought the Away Everywhere Bag and find it extremely versatile as a personal item on flights. The bag can hold a laptop, has several compartments, and the nylon material makes it super easy to clean.

Noise Cancelling Headphones

I will never travel without my noise cancelling headphones. I am very sensitive to noise and these headphones are a lifesaver. It’s worth the investment and will bring you so much comfort during a long trip.

Neck Pillow & Eye Mask

I’m not a fan of the pillows given on airplanes – I don’t trust them. I never travel without my neck pillow and eye mask on long flights. A highly recommend a sleep mask, especially on an overnight flight. Personally any bit of light distracts me and I’m not able to sleep. It may look ridiculous on the flight but who cares?! At least you will be comfortable and getting some rest!

Blanket or Cardigan

Planes are always freezing cold. I always pack some sort of a sweater or blanket scarf in my carry on bag. This one from Cuyana is my favorite and super cozy.

Snacks & Water

I always pack snacks on flights! I usually hit up Trader Joe’s or Target the day before and get all the snacks I want, because it’s much cheaper then getting it at the airport. I generally get a mix of healthy and non-healthy snacks – watermelon sour patch kids are my weakness. Additionally I bring a small reusable water bottle on me while I travel. I drink a ton of water and love having a bottle on hand at all times. The flight attendants are usually kind enough to fill it up for me throughout the flight. Also at the airport you can always find a water fountain.

& Other Stuff

I usually have a clear bag that I carry with items that come in handy on the plane. Anything from Hand sanitizer, Wipes, Medication, and Toiliterreties (lip balm, toothbrush, contact solution, glasses, deodorant, and perfume). Additionally I always bring a book and Portable USB Charger.

What are some essential items you pack in your carry on?

I always pack snacks, water, chapstick, hand lotion and extra battery pack for phone and computer. I can’t wait to follow along on your travels!
